Tatas-owned Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited

Tatas-owned Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited plans to lay an undersea cable between India and Europe, covering about 10,000 km, at an investment of over $300 million.

Senior VSNL officials confirmed the plan and said that the company was expecting to have enough demand for bandwidth by 2008 and keeping this in mind VSNL has undertaken the major project.

Since the cost involved is huge, the company is also discussing with a few companies in West Asia to share the expenditure.

The partnership could be in any form -- the companies may take capacity and become financial partners, the officials said.

VSNL is in talks with Etisalat of United Arab Emirates and Saudi Telecom of Saudi Arabia, besides a few others in Southern Europe.

The cable is likely to be laid from Mumbai passing through Gulf and Egypt to France or Portugal.

The company is in the process of preparing a project report and by August/September the blue-print is expected to be ready, they added.

Asked about the source of funding, sources said it would be partially from internal accruals and rest depends upon the response from other partners.

VSNL is talking with the vendors about the costing to tie up finances, sources said.

Asked about the demand for undersea terabyte cable, VSNL officials said there would be enough demand for bandwidth in India itself as it has become a big destination for IT and enabled services.

VSNL, claiming to have a broadband subscriber base of over one lakh, said broadband is coming up in India in a big way and this alone would generate sufficient demand for bandwidth, they added.

I am not able to receive any ringtones and picture message from other mobiles. let me know how i can received ringtones & picture message from other mobiles? is there any other way to do the same? and also very low backup problem is there what can i do ? plz send me reply as early possible.

tata indicom ridiculuous service

Hi,
I am also a prey for tata indicom ridiculuous service. Inspite of several hassles i was connected with broadband. That too from day1 it takes minutes to browse a site like yahoo. I complained on that it was already 4 days but no response. I called to call center around 10 times once they put me on hold stating that they will connect me to higher official when i asked that i want to escalate this.
Service is too pathetic. Inspie of money paid i have to invest huge money on phone bill.

Tata Idicom Broadband seems to have employed a ruthless
bunch of incompetent shammers and hypocrites.They invite
your feedback and when you do that-no one gives a damn !
I even wrote to a lady calledChritabelleNoronha,supposedly
the V.P.- Corporate Media and followed it up with a reminder-but she cared two hoots.Or maybe she does’nt exist-possibly she’s a dummy.What really sucks is;that they
unabashedly claim they are customer focussed.Ratan Tata should hand over this company to naxalites-they’ll know
what to do with it.

People should be carefull while dealing with Tata Indicom VSNL connection

People should be carefull while dealing with Tata Indicom VSNL connection. They take deposits in advance and then don’t connect. If you decide to terminate their services, they do not refund the money, because they know that nobody will take the trouble of going to courts for such a small amount. BE VERY VERY CAREFUL while dealing with VSNL. They don’t keep their word

i just read some articles on tata's broadand here. i agree.
i got my tata connection 10 days ago.it hasnt been working properly ever since. it givevs me a lot of problems. most of the day it doesnt work. i have called up the call centes a million times but all they do is forward my complaint to their so called "backroom staff". ne ways repaeated calls to them havent yielded ne results


also the guy who installed the internet here never lifts the mobile. surprisingly, when the cable guy (with whom these guys have tied up for internet) calls he is on the other side.

are there solutions to this. thank you

I am fed up with TATA Broadband.

I am fed up with TATA Broadband. This is what i wrote to there Customer Service Head.
I have got following complaints:
Quality of Service
I have been using your broadband connection since last 4 months now. I must have lodged a compliant almost every week during this period. You can check the # of complaints I have filed. Most of the time when I login,I find that the WAN link is down. This has resulted in a huge loss to me, both money and time wise. In addition, this has resulted in mental agony and frustration. At the time of subscribing to your service you guys make tall claims about your QOS but I have found it to be pathetic to say the least.
Poor CS Response
I have observed that your CS people never give the reason for failure. All I got to know once was that there was a cable cut. But, I’m sure its much beyond that. Lately, I have seen that CS never calls up to respond to a compliant. I have to call up repeatedly to check for the status of the complaints. I have also observed that the issue described is not even logged sometimes. I am given new complaint numbers even though old complaint is not resolved. I am sure this is an innovative way to improve your SLA.
No Refund
Due to the issues observed I was promised that I will be refunded 1 months bill in the next cycle. On asking for refund since last 3 months I have been told to pay for this cycle and then I will get the refund next time. Unfortunately, this never happened.
Disconnection
My WAN link was having issues since last one week or so. I have been trying desperately to get this issue resolved when to my surprise I found out that my connection has been disconnected. Do you think you are justified in asking for money when you have not been able to provide service? I cannot describe how rude your CS agent was.I am disappointed that a TATA Group company has stooped so low.
I urge you once again to personally look into the matter and ensure the following:
1. Restore the connection ASAP
2. Refund one months billing amount as promised
3. Ensure that you provide uninterrupted service
If above is not done ASAP I have no choice but to approach consumer court for redressal of my grievances.

hi there…i recently came 2 knw from my friend that outgoing from tata mobile to tata mobile is free for 2 yrs. Is it true?? and is there any specific mobile dat v have to buy to avail this offer? And do v have to recharge it for validity…??? pls answer my queries as soon as possible…i am only interested in free outgoing, so pls tell me abt it…

TATA INDICOM Brodband Service

DO Not use TATA INDICOM Brodband Service, I was a customer from T/I Brodband more than 3 years, and after that changed to ARITEL Broadband service-Belive me it is good service, Customer Sercice is really good, they will taught me incase of router link failure, Like how to configure router according to your choice and most important point is- THERE SERVICE IS UNDERLINE CABLE so no matter for line cut-off or some thing else.
Inrespect of TATA brodband, their customer service executives are all bunch of jokers, they will commited you false and fake statement which is absouletly rediculas, and their cable connections are overhead and as a result line will got disconnected frquently due to wind,rain,thief.
SO DO NOT USE TATA INDICOM BRODBAND- AFTER SALES SERVICE IS WOOOOOOOOOOOOORST !!!!!!!

TATA INDICOM boradband customer

I live in Pune(Viman Nagar) and have been a TATA INDICOM boradband customer for the past 4 months. For the first 2 months their service was steady and throughput decent. But the last two months have been a nightmare. Their customer care is the worst I have ever seen after calling up 4 times from my cell and being on hold for more than 10 mins each time. Nobody even cares to call back and find out if the problem has been solved or not. Its really a most frustrating experience

IT is LOOT PURE AND~SIMPLE

I fully agree with all othres. TATA-VSNL as it is available in Delhi….AVOID IT….the connection is NEVER AVAILBLE when you need it ESPECIALLY on holidays when you work from home. I did complain to them. After trying to fool me off for days a guy called up to feel sorry that no electricity backup is available for the system in my area(Vikaspuri) and assured me they are trying to put one soon. I am still without a connection today and here I am sending it from good old MTNL free connection. IT is LOOT PURE AND~SIMPLE. How could they sell me a connection that was only half installed and without a power backup.
